Berlin Marathon - Run of Superlatives

The Berlin Marathon is not only one of the most attended marathons in Germany but also part of the renowned World Marathon Majors, which include Boston, London, New York, Chicago, and Tokyo. Known for its exhilarating atmosphere along the route, the Berlin Marathon is accompanied by thousands of enthusiastic fans who loudly support the runners. The route is particularly popular among athletes as it is mostly flat. Over the years, numerous marathon world records and best times have been achieved here, most recently in 2022 by Kenyan runner Eliud Kipchoge. His world record was surpassed in 2023 at the Chicago Marathon by his compatriot Kelvin Kiptum.

Berlin Marathon - Sightseeing Highlights

Along the route of the Berlin Marathon, you can discover numerous attractions of the German capital. The start and finish are located on Straße des 17. Juni, from where it heads towards the Victory Column. Other highlights await you at the Federal Chancellery, the Reichstag, and Alexanderplatz. A special highlight awaits you at kilometer 34 on Kurfürstendamm, where the atmosphere is particularly exhilarating. By kilometer 39, as you pass Potsdamer Platz, the finish line is already within reach. At kilometer 42, you finally reach the impressive Brandenburg Gate, which is not only a symbol of German reunification but also the ultimate goal for successfully completing the Berlin Marathon.
